Introduction

In Ireland, you can find two very different languages and various accents. The video-clip above tries to explain one of those accents. However it does not really succeed- have a look at the commentary on youtube.com. Maybe you can do a better job by investigating on the irish languages. The following questions will provide a guideline for you. They can be answered with the provided links, books from the library - maybe you even have relatives or friends in Ireland whom you can ask.

  2. What does the term Hiberno-English mean? *Would you want to learn this language when you move to Ireland? Discuss! 
  3. Find out where in Ireland you can find which language  *-in this context discuss the term "Gaeltacht". 
  4. Discuss with you group-members which words could be useful and create a list of Irish vocabulary. *Try to find out how to pronounce the words.
